My favorite metaphysical poetry line would be "He would adore my gifts instead of me". I think it perfectly aligns the doubts one would have when they give someone so much. Even God contemplates giving Rest because mankind is simple minded therefore would focus on the things God gives instead of appreciating God himself.

My favorite metaphysical poetry line is “ A bracelet of bright hair about the bone”(The Relic, line 5). This line illustrates the love that is contained between the two dead lovers. The women’s hair forms a circle that signifies their never ending love.

Although I do love George Herbert and Andrew Marvell, I prefer John Donne because his background is very interesting and it plays into the meaning behind his poems. My favorite metaphysical poem that he wrote had to be the Triple Fool. My favorite metaphysical conceit in the poem would have to be, "Both are increased by such songs, For both their triumphs so are published, And I, which was two fools, do so grow three." The reason for it being my favorite is because Donne describes that his poems turned against him even though they were written to let out his grief about being rejected. His griefs then return at full force and he becomes a third fool for believing that he could relieve his pains by writing poetry.

My favorite line has to be from "The Pulley" by George Herbert "When almost all was out, God made a stay". This line in his metaphysical poem really impacted me because it says the whole truth about humanity. Humans can be very selfish and they don't see what he does. This shows that no matter how tough things are God is there for us and presents us with his gifts as well as himself always. He never fails to come through for us and our belief in him makes us as humans stronger.
