My thoughts about having online learning is that it is going to be difficult for me to learn. I prefer to be in the classroom environment then in my house. In school I don't get distracted compared to my household. I might get bored and start looking at the window or check my phone. Compared to school there are no distractions and there's no windows. The disadvantage of online courses can create a sense of isolation because you can't see your peers. Another disadvantage is that the teacher is not physically there to teach so it's harder for me to learn. I am an auditory learner where I have to hear the person who is teaching ,so I can understand better. The advantage of online courses is that there's no distractions because there no one and it's quiet. I can manage my time and make my own schedule. I would consider online courses depending on the class.

Dear Joslin and Luis:
You are welcome to contact your teacher for questions and clarifications so that you can compensate for the lack of peer-to-peer and instructional interaction.

I agree with having distractions at home and thinking its easier to work with the teacher in the room. I think its very important that we ask questions to the teachers so we can get it clarified throughly. Working at home can have many advantages and disadvantages but I think the teachers will do anything to provide the help for us.

This is a really interesting take on this situation, and I appreciate your input. For me, it is the opposite. I am more distracted in class because of the closed setting where everyone is a few feet apart and many people talk loud. However, at home I am isolated when I need to be, so it's easier for me to focus on the impending assignments I need to work on. It can be difficult, but I know that we all have got this if we try out best! Best of luck to you.

I completely agree with you! For me, it can be much more difficult to learn when I don't have someone to verbally explain things to me. I was also worried that I wouldn't be able to focus properly on my work, but thankfully, that hasn't been the case so far.

I relate to many of the things you like and dislike about online classes. For instance, I also find it extremely difficult to focus at home because I take long breaks and check my phone too often. I also agree that we are too isolated not only from our teachers but also from our peers who we go to for help on assignments as well.

Our dilemma is that we need to build the sense of community and camaraderie while we are separated/ isolated in our respective households. I wonder whether this could be the momentum for the next Bill Gates to come up with a virtual reality program.

I can see where all this is coming from. Being in quarantine isn’t the best and it’s going to be hard to adapt to. I, myself, am having difficulties being able to concentrate here at home. The distraction level at my house is greater than the distraction at school. Another thing I think it might be a disadvantage is like you said we wont have our teachers to teach us in person.

I personally like online learning, it gives us more time to organize and to turn in our assignments. I think a great advantage is that we can do our schoolwork from the comforts of our home and in my case with little distractions from others. But this also means we will have little to no social interaction with teachers and classmates, and we must email teachers every time we have a question, even if it is just a simple yes or no question. I would consider online college courses but not for all my classes because in certain classes I would prefer to be there so I can have a better understanding of the material.

I agree with you Cassidy, online learning has certain advantages that allow you to work with no distractions and its easier to just email your teacher if you have certain questions, but i do have to say that every teacher has different office hours so if you needed a certain answer by a certain time you’d have to wait until they are available. I will agree with you in the way that there are certain classes that are best if they were learned through direct instruction.

In my opinion, i think online learning is a much more easier way to do our assignments at out own time and own pace, and also to give ur extra free time. There can be pros and cons about the online learning. Thw pros can that it makes the more easier and faster to do, without the hustle with pencil and paper, and can help find information much more easier. The cons can be that there can be distractions because of the fact that your at home and thongs come up, and sometimes technology can unexpectedly malfunction and erase all the work you did, and have to start over. I would consider online courses in the future, but not for the classes that I will need to be in the class and help drom the teacher.

I think i’ll have a harder time with online learning but I don’t hate the idea. It just feels like I have an extended time to do homework and I think it’s easy for me to procrastinate. I think the good thing about online learning is that those who prefer a more comfortable setting to do work enjoy working in a controlled setting. Plus, I prefer to listen to music while I work and I don’t get to do that in a classroom setting. I also have no time limit which makes it easier to work. The negative aspects is how easy it is to get distracted and put off doing work until the last minute. If I work in a classroom it forces me to finish my work. No I wouldn’t wanna do online college courses but if I had no other choice I wouldn’t hate the idea.

Procrastinating is something that will affect us a lot more heavily now with online learning and we will have to adjust and avoid that. There are both pros and cons to practicing distance learning. One of the pros would be that it allows students to practice time management allowing them to manage their time for each class and set aside time to work on each subject. This allows students to gain proficiency in time management/responsibility allowing them to have these skills for later on in life. Therefore this is a great opportunity for us as students to learn time management. There are also cons to this method of learning such as distractions. Doing schoolwork at your house allows space for distractions such as your phone, other family members, and the outside world. It is sometimes very difficult to not allow time for these distractions, but it is also a learning opportunity by allowing you to learn how to ignore these distractions.

Virginia Woolf wrote an extended essay called _A Room of One’s Own_ in which she argued true independence, for a woman or a man for that matter, begins with a physical space that she (he) can call her (his) own.
I know not everybody gets to have a room of one’s own (once, a student told me he shared a room with seven cousins), but we need to find a personal space—be that physical or emotional—to conduct our planning, thinking, and reflection. If you have a physical room of your own, things become so much easier to begin with.

At first, I was ready and prepared for them thinking it would be easier because I wouldn't have to show up to a classroom. Now, I'm not as sure because once I saw the assignments flood in and saw how many I had to complete by the end of the week the excitement of learning online died down pretty fast. Some advantages are that I'm not restricted to a classroom and one sole teacher. I can use countless different resources to aid me in understanding some topics. However, it becomes a problem when I don't have that help for one minor detail that my teachers could easily explain. One thing that I do like about this online learning is that it is very helpful and easier in a way for my introverted nature and I can focus at my own pace. Yes, I would consider online college courses but solely for classes that don't require additional help from teachers like math and science.

From my perspective, having online classes provides students with the extra time to do assignments, therefore allowing them to be organized and go at their own pace. However, there are pros and cons to practicing distance learning. A pro would be that you are able to manage your own time creating a flexible schedule. There are also cons for this different method of learning which include a lack of social interaction, being unfocused due to distractions, and not being motivated. We are usually accustomed to being in an environment where we would be able to hear everyone else’s opinions, but now since we don’t have any peers to work with that would change. I would consider trying out online courses because there would be flexibility in my schedule and the environment. It also creates a sense of discipline and responsibility does giving me a learning opportunity to be more individualized.

There is a recurring motif that many of your postings echo. All of you seem to consider school as a place of instruction (academic skills) and social interaction (social skills) and being forced to forgo the latter half puts a big dent in your holistic development. This is by all means a temporary situation. But we need to take a dry run at it because more and more social interactions will be virtual from now on.

I believe that online learning can be an opportunity to learn and grow to be more responsible, thus, I am fairly excited for this. An advantage of this new learning method is the increase in time given to us to complete assignments. If you manage your time wisely, you will have the freedom of working on any assignment virtually whenever you want. This can also be positive if you are a quick worker and usually finish before the rest of the class. Instead of sitting at your desk and not doing anything, it is now easier to be productive and continue to work when there is available time. A disadvantage of this learning method is the fact that we will be interacting less with our teacher, which can cause miscommunication, and our peers. It is always important to remain in social contact because we can feed off each other’s ideas and grow together. Due to the situation we are going through this is impossible, but thanks to technology, we are still able to communicate with our teachers and classmates. I would not consider taking online courses because I feel that it is crucial to have a more personal interaction in order to further understand the courses. I would consider doing college courses if it was for a Master’s or Professional degree.

My thoughts of learning through an online platform are a mixture of positive and negative. On the plus side, I am able to sleep in a little bit later and have the energy to complete my work at full potential, and I am also given an opportunity to practice self-discipline and time management. On the other side my teacher will not be available to give lecture to help me process everything and ask questions on the spot. Although google may be at my fingertips it is not the same as having that face to face interaction to help you. Another disadvantage is the minimization of face to face group work which is another way students can learn. I would much rather participate in online classes that I may not struggle with, but for others that I need the extra assistance, I would prefer to have a teacher guiding through the process in person.

I agree having more time for sleep allows students to have in their opinion the best amount of sleep needed for having enough energy through the day and having their energy is necessary to stay on task with each assignment and not allow yourself to fall behind on assignments. This 1 on 1 interaction with the teachers on google classroom also allows each student to have the opportunity to fully grasp the concept each teaching is teaching.

That is a very valid point, Justin. We need to increase more face-2-face time between teachers and students, and “virtual face time” (sorry to use an oxymoron here) is a real possibility.

I imagine many teachers will build their online lecture libraries from which they can choose a lecture of an appropriate level and content to upload on online classrooms. In such a setting, students can pause and repeat the lecture and even send direct messages to their teacher for clarification.

I am also mulling over the idea of starting a lesson/ lecture series for my students.

By the way, you guys are welcome to browse and study the content on this website (especially, “Writing Mechanics” and “Vocabulary Might” would be fun and useful for you guys.)!

I really agree with what you're saying, considering that I am someone who can't learn without an instructor lecturing me. While it will be hard, I think we will all get through this and will be able to return to class very very soon.

Online learning is going to be a fun and new experience. It's going to be different because we don’t have our teacher in class with us to help and provide a better understanding of the lessons to come. Now we must contact our teachers via email and most of our class work is discussion based and typing rather than working on a work sheet or having a in class project/ assignment to do. We basically must try to understand the lesson by ourselves to the best of our knowledge and if we need help, we can always send a text message to a fellow classmate or email our teacher. Although we do have the luxury of being comfortable at home in our pajamas, we still miss out on the one on one with our teachers. Online school can be fun if we make it, and it does offer us the flexibility to do our work, but it really does depend on the student's preference/method of learning.

Both STC and UTRGV use an APP called Pronto, which is basically an educational face time program. After surviving this dry run, more and more secondary schools will implement these APPs and train students to use them in a professional, academic manner.
Since so many of you are so techno-savvy, I bet it is the teachers who have to scramble to learn them.

I know for a fact that I will have a difficult time learning online. I feel like it would be better if we could have the lessons taught over video chat so we can be shown how and what to do. Personally an advantage would be that I would get to work at my own pace. A disadvantage for me would be that I won't be retaining as much information as I would if I was being taught the lesson. I more than likely won't be considering online college courses only because I need to hear the information in order to retain it.

I feel I might be a bit stressed as online classes progress because I’m not great at online assignments, but I’ve gotten better at asking for help and practicing. Overall, this could be an amazing experience for all of us because it could have many advantages such as giving it us time to complete an assignment with a lot of time to rest. However, there are some disadvantages like not being able to work the same. Personally it would be like not being able to concentrate as much and have trouble understanding the lesson. Since I work better in a school environment rather than at home, I feel like I could experience a lot of distractions. As for college courses, it would probably be a very good idea for students it could help us improve on the college area work and our understanding of larger, complex studies.

Online classes were made in the mid-1990s; they separated learning in school from classes being accessible from anywhere that has internet access by using the world wide web. With time people have discovered that online learning is something reliable and accessible, and at times people choose to do these online courses instead of going to a school. My thoughts on having online learning through this difficult time due to the coronavirus is that thankfully we have the technology to continue learning even though we are at home which will save us from having to take summer school. Some disadvantages with having online classes is that some people aren't used to learning online, including me. I am more concentrated in school than I am at home, for example when there’s school I get home from school, do homework, later eat dinner, go to sleep around 12pm and wake up at 7am, take a shower and go to school again. Yet when we take online classes my schedule is all scrambled.

I personally am enjoying online learning so far! I know there are some benefits and disadvantages, but for me those are only true for certain subjects. Subjects like English or Business Information Management are easy for me to understand on an online format, while math and science classes are going to most likely be more difficult. However, I do enjoy the fact that I am able to have the freedom of my own space to think instead of being confined to a quiet room with only a desk. I think out loud and often read to myself, but I cannot do this in a traditional classroom as it can be distracting to others. Additionally, I am not distracted by others in the class who are loud and disruptive and can listen to music which really helps me focus. I like the flexibility I have in how and when I approach certain assignments; this aspect has given me the ability to calmly and thoroughly approach certain assignments without time restrictions hindering my abilities. Online learning is going to benefit us by providing a new experience that will teach us to be responsible with our time and resources. With everything due at pretty much the same time, we will have to create a schedule to deem which classes and assignments need our attention the most as we go on with the week. It's also going to provide challenges based on our critical thinking skills to see if we can think outside of the box. Moreover, because a lot of the assignments are going to be discussion based, our writing and communication skills will improve. However, for some students learning online is difficult overall because their learning styles are different. Some may need extra face-to-face help, while others simply just have trouble avoiding distractions in an uncontrolled environment like home. I know that my phone can be a big distraction, so I will try to keep it away from me during this learning period. I would not take online courses completely during college because I want to experience college fully by communicating with other students and professors face-to-face. I think that communication is an important part of college and online courses will keep me from experiencing and enhancing that skill which will help me in my future career. College is also very different from high-school and the assignments will likely be more challenging. All in all, even though I am enjoying myself, the luxury of being at home with our belongings while learning surely will come at a price for some, and it will be a test to see how our self-control and responsibility upholds in comparison to others.

As for I, this online learning would teach me about self discipline and responsibility. I would have a more flexible schedule as to more of a calm environment without any noises or any distractions as such. Also being I could work at my own pace. To others a disadvantage to online learning is that not everyone has access to the internet, and no face to face interaction. Some students find it difficult to learn without the teacher being there to guide them through the process. I too sometimes find it difficult to learn some subjects without a teachers guidance. Even though this a great opportunity for me and a few others. I would still prefer the traditional way of learning.

I personally am enjoying online learning so far. I prefer to have my teachers lessons taught over video chats that way I can get a better understanding of my lessons and it can also improve my grades. A major advantage is that with online classes you can learn whenever you want. For example, it doesn't matter where you're at as long as you have internet access you're able to learn at any time. Another advantage about online learning is that online courses always look good on resumes. An online program will show employers that you're committed to learning and you're eager to obtain more knowledge. One disadvantage is that you can easily get distracted by either having your phone with you at all times or even by wanting to take several breaks. Another disadvantage is that there is no face to face interactions with my teachers so any questions I have I would email them to ask them my concern. I feel like I would consider online courses for college only because I would be able to get my work done on time and even have the chance to finishing it up earlier than the due date.

The online method for instruction is completely divergent from the learning experience in school. I favor the idea of online education as it provides others the ability to complete their academics while remaining at home, while school requires a great deal of accountability, productivity, and punctuality. The flexibility/freedom online learning enables is the ability to complete assignments whenever I wish, read a sentence out loud, create a personal time schedule, utilize random break times to prevent slacking off an assignment, and less restrictive punctuality. Although online education can be tremendously advantageous, it also includes disadvantages for others. Advantages of online education are the freedoms mentioned previously, fewer distractions from others, opportunities for academically struggling students to thrive, and better family, relative and instructor communications. Attendance would drastically improve for students that often miss regular school days as attending online school only requires one to participate and complete in ongoing assignments instead of having to arrive at a designated school building. Still are the disadvantages of online education that pertains to non-existent face-to-face instruction that incorporates considerable visualizations, the lack of direct communication with an instructor, and the lack of company from other students. If a student has a question or questions they’ll have to rely on the time as teachers aren’t available all the time, and students would have to email or find other means to have their question answered. Furthermore, learning face-to-face provides the benefits of visualizations and direct explanations; for instance, teachers can directly explain the topic/concept better through the use of hand movements. College requires a well-developed internal structure to succeed. Essential skills such as time, stress, money, and assertiveness management is significant for college. Shall I consider online college courses? I would rather stick to attending college at a physical location. Although I prefer online instruction for high school, I believe that college would be best to attend physically due to the need of a direct visual of an instructor for greater understanding of a topic or lesson.

As for college, I also see eye to eye with you since college is a totally different experience that leads us to acquire important skill and traits that will eventually prepare us to live as independent adults if we were to attend it physically.

Online learning to very different form direct instruction. Some students learn better in person where someone is teaching them the concept and work some questions with them also asking them questions. Another thing about online is that some students get really distracted at home with their phones or with others things around them. But other students really like online learning because may be they get work done faster and learn better alone. Online learning just depends on the type of way that we like to learn.A advantage is that by having online classes you have a more comfortable working environment for many, including me, however when it comes to disadvantages, a large one is that there is no actual face-to-face interaction with one another or with the teacher, meaning it’s harder to learn for many since you largely have to work isolated. I'm ok with learning online, since it's a temporary thing until we go back to school.

When I first heard that we were switching to online learning because of the virus, I was admittedly angered. It's difficult enough with the regular set-up, and I was worried that trying to learn through online classes would be even more difficult for me. This is because I tend to procrastinate, and learning without a teacher is hard. I find it more reassuring when I can simply ask a teacher about any questions I have, but although it's possible on this platform, it's more troublesome. That said, I can recognize that there are some advantages (and disadvantages) to this learning method. advantages include: you can work in your pajamas, eat whenever you want, and the whole process is more laid back. Disadvantages include: more distractions, limited internet accessibility (depending on the situation), and you're basically teaching yourself new information. To end, I wouldn't do online courses. If I had the option to take regular classes and I was in good health, I wouldn't even think about online classes because I know myself too well. It would be difficult to hold myself accountable and do everything well. Also, since I'm a perfectionist, it would be frustrating if I wasn't able to clarify tasks in order to get good grades. I'm independent, but not that independent.

At first, I was extremely worried about how difficult online classes would be because it's hard enough as it is for me to understand the material taught in person, with the instructor near by to ask for guidance. But surprisingly, I'm finding online classes to not be as confusing as I feared they would be. There are several advantages to online class that I have found. For instance, I now can focus more on my work compared to in class where there are people talking all around me. Another advantage is that I don't have to rush to finish my assignments before the bell anymore, which gives me the opportunity to spend more time making them better. I also enjoy that now we are allowed to go at our pace since we have until Friday's to finish our assignments, so you get to organize how you want to finish your work. Some disadvantages, however, are clearly that we are essentially teaching ourselves. It's solely up to us to understand the material, with or without a teacher. Another disadvantage is that if we have questions that have lengthy or complicated responses, it's difficult for the teachers to find ways to communicate the answers back to us.

Online learning has some obvious advantages such as the limited distractions and the comfort of being in your home. It also allows you more time to organize and collect your thoughts, but on the other hand there are disadvantages. Such as not having a teacher there in person to explain things to you and online isn’t great for those of us who put things off until the last minute as no one is there to tell you to get to work. Ever since World Scholars extended the off time from school, they have said that there will be online classes. My thoughts on this were skeptical at first. Reason being is because I have never done online learning before and this was new to me. Therefore, I had trouble knowing how to turn in work, but I later got the hang of things. The advantages of online classes could be great such as having to work from home which is a safe place. Also being able to not get distracted by other students. Though there are disadvantages such as not making any human contact in person or maybe a student may not have access to a computer or a Wi-Fi network. With that said would I myself want to do an online college course? The answer is no. First of all, I would not do this because I am more of a hands-on learner than a online one, and I also would probably grow bored of just sitting in front of a computer.

Online learning has it’s pros and cons to it. For example, a pro would be that I get to wake up at the time I choose and have a more than one day to turn an assignment in; moreover, a con would be that I don’t have direct access to assistance when I need it. Due to these circumstances we obviously don’t have a choice so it’s either we learn or fail and I know since it’s something really new it may not seem easy at first but I will soon get the hang of it. Honestly, I wouldn’t really consider online college classes unless I didn’t have a choice because I feel like it’s easier for me to learn in a classroom than online considering that I have my teacher there for any questions or concerns. In conclusion, I’m open to learning online because of necessity but not out of choice

This is convenient because although we have deadlines we can still work at any time with easy access before the due date. The disadvantages that come in online learning is that you don’t have access to any assistance you may need. Yes, you can email your instructors for help but it can take a while for them to get back to you. This is part of the reason I am content with not being able to speak to the teacher and my peers in person, as I am also the type of person to be distracted at school. I also agree with you putting working at your own pace as an advantage. From pre-K to 6th grade, I went to a Montessori school, where all learning was done at a student's individual pace, much like how we are learning now. I have always felt that this method of learning has worked for me, and it may be because majority of my education was given to me in this manner, but I stand by my case. I regard online classes as a more difficult learning experience than that of school. I don’t believe online learning to be horrible or extremely hard, but without having the teacher present to help explain a subject, it creates more difficulty when trying to learn. Just like all things, online learning contains advantages and disadvantages. Online courses allow students to learn in a more comfortable environment and provides alternate methods of learning that we may find better than what is being taught at school. However, online classes strip us of the ability to ask the teacher for explanation on a subject, as well as doesn’t provide motivation on finishing work. At school our brain automatically knows to start doing work, but at home all anyone everyone wants to do is relax and have fun. That being said I would prefer having physical class rather than online, but if no other option is available I wouldn’t complain about having the opportunity of learning from home

We are going to have to get used to online learning, though, so it is good that you find such amazing benefits to learning virtually. I, personally, am highly looking forward to online learning. So far, this virtual education is providing me with much more free time than I would have with a normal school schedule. I now have the luxury of taking long breaks in between assignments and having leisure hours to read, workout, and communicate with my friends. The flexible nature of online learning has allowed me to work during the times when I feel most productive and motivated to learn. I no longer have to struggle to retain information before 10:00 a.m.; I can now utilize my mornings to take time to myself and set my days up for success. There are downsides to this method of schooling, however, which make me glad I am not homeschooled in reality. As a student, I feel I learn better through lectures and oral class discussions. This may be because I exhibit audio-learner tendencies, but I am afraid that I will not be able to properly grasp new concepts solely through my computer screen. Because of this, I would not like to pursue online college. I learn best in a school environment, where I can ask questions, discuss with my peers, and have much more fun through in person communication. I have always wanted to physically go to college, and this experience is further supporting my decision.

It’s nice to see someone making the best out of our current circumstances. Like you and seemingly everyone else, I too am enjoying the flexibility of our hours. I also prefer being taught in person due to my learning style. I hope the work assigned to us during this period won’t be too difficult to learn on our own.

Obviously knowing you very well, I think it's great that you're able to work at your own pace. I've seen you in your stressed out situations. I know stuff can get hard in class and very overwhelming cause you have limited time to complete your work, but I'm really happy that you're making the best out of what is in reality is horrible situation.

When the dust settles down, the traditional face-2-face instruction will resume. I hear, though, what you are bemoaning: you would like to have your teacher in proximity to ask questions and receive feedback.

In college, there is a third option in addition to traditional face-to-face classroom and virtual classroom and it is called a hybrid class. In a hybrid setting, you may go to the brick-and-mortar classroom once a week or every other week and the rest of classes are conducted via remote connection. Would you consider taking a hybrid class if offered?

Although online learning has been a big change for everyone and has been shown to have it's problems like how you've mentioned that you personally learn better in lectures and oral class discussions, I am glad that you are able to see and utilize all the positive aspects that online learning has to offer.

Although I understand the need for online learning due to our current situation, I don't believe it is the best for me. I personally learn better when there is someone teaching in person and helping me retain the information through given examples. Nevertheless there are some advantages that can be noted from having online classes. For example, as some of my peers have already mentioned, we students benefit from having the freedom to complete assignments at our pace and when we feel better suited to do so. This greatly reduces the pressure of having to complete assignments before the end of the class time and then move on to the next classes. Despite the added freedom and flexibility of online classes, I do have to agree that it can lead to some difficulty learning. like mentioned above, many times we students are accustomed to learn with teacher instruction. many times our educators facilitate the learning with words or examples the topic on hand easier to grasp. Another downfall of an education from home is that we easily get distracted. I like other students may get bored and soon find ourselves doing something else besides our work. Because of my experience with online courses, I don't think it would be beneficial for me to take any college courses in this format. I would rather listen to a lecture from a professor in person rather than through a computer. Even so, I would consider it if my circumstances were to change drastically and if they were the only other way to further my education.

It appears a lot of us are having the same concerns regarding retaining material and staying focused. For this reason, it’s easy to assume our education will suffer, but I think we can adapt to work independently and learn to manage our time better through this experience. On another note, I like that you keep an open mind despite having a firm stance. Mandatory online schooling hadn't crossed my mind.

Online learning is an alternative to experiential learning in the classroom. Being someone who has taken online classes prior to now, I can say there is a fair share of advantages and disadvantages. The main appeal of online learning is the flexibility of your schedule. Given a due date and materials, you’re able to work at your own pace without the binds of a school day’s time restrictions. This is convenient for those who are too busy for school, feel constrained in a classroom environment, as well as those who prefer to work privately. However, online learning isn’t for everyone. There are those who work better with the guidance of an educator and enjoy the social aspect. Arguably the biggest disadvantage is taking on the responsibility of personally managing your time and classes. Now, in regards to whether I’d be interested in online college courses, my answer is a hesitant no. I fall into the category of those who work better when taught in person, thus I worry I won’t grasp the material thoroughly. Although, if it isn’t all of my courses, I think I could get by taking one or two.

For the safety of the students and staff, I respect the switch to online courses. However, outside of these circumstances, I prefer physical classes. Though I do understand its appeal, the way I learn is through visual and auditory, which is difficult through a computer. It's easier for me to understand subjects if I have a person explaining in real life as well as other people offering different ideas or methods. There are some classes that, in my opinion, require hands-on learning to understand a concept, which won't be possible during this period. Also, with traditional classes, you have direct access to a teacher and are better able to communicate your thoughts or concerns. Online learning, however, it does help in other aspects like discipline and planning, while providing freedom to students. As for in a college setting, online learning would be too overwhelming for me as not only would I be in charge of school work but also the additional weight of becoming an adult.

I liked how you mentioned that online classes would help with aspects like discipline and planning, and I totally agree with your statement. I believe that students will learn to be more responsible from this experience due to them having to learn how to set their own schedule at home, so that there are able to get all their assignments done.

I never in my life imagined that we would be taking online classes at home but here we are. I myself find it a bit more challenging to concentrate at home rather than at school. Staring at a screen for too long and having assignments thrown at me from a computer can be overwhelming. Some advantages for taking online classes would be that things are much faster and easier. You’re able to work on your own time without having so many distractions. On the other hand, not a lot of people are good with technology. I myself am having difficulties learning how to use technology and certain devices. Every household isn’t, some are louder than others and it varies for every person. I don’t think I’m read any to take online college courses, but i would consider it after i see how well I perform with these classes while we are in quarantine.

I honestly never thought we'd be in this particular situation either, and to be honest I'm getting sick of logging on to my computer to do schoolwork. But I'm glad you're also seeing some positives in this situation and trying to make the most of it despite having to deal with obstacles.

I believe that online courses are far more challenging because it leaves an open window for procrastination. I also agree that the house you live in can be a major disadvantage when doing classes online, In a world where we are encouraged to stay away from technology and spend more time socializing, here we are, staring at a screen for hours at a time.

I didn't think that I would have to take online classes until I reached college, but if anything, this is only preparing me for what I have to look forward to. I am glad that we have a lot of free time, but I will miss being in the classroom with my friends and teachers. While this may take a bit to get used to, I am almost done with all of my online work for this week, which I am proud of. I hope everyone manages to get through these tough times, and I hope to see everyone back in the classrooms soon. Most people along with myself took the time we spent with our friends for granted, but after this I will learn to cherish it cause you never know when something like this may happen. I really want to be back in a classroom very soon, as online classes are boring and not very educational in any way.

For me personally, I've had trouble adjusting completely to this new style of learning because I'm a visual learner. I learn best by receiving a demonstration first rather than just being told how to do something. And so far the only thing that we're being given in this new learning style is vague instructions, links to websites, and then we just hope we're doing it right. But I can't say that online learning doesn't have its perks. We're able to work comfortably from home, and set our own schedule as to how we spread out time to do our assignments to suit our deadlines. But clearly there are flaws in this method. Now about online college courses, I definitely wouldn't mind taking them especially if it's necessary during this crucial time, but I would prefer to take them in class in order to learn directly from my professor my peers.

I was very excited when I found out we were having online classes because it was a new experience for me and along with others. When I realized that it was going to be a little more difficult than I thought because everything is done at my own pace and I'm usually very busy with work and then with my family. I feel like it's been difficult trying to balance school with my out of school life. An advantage for me is that I don't have to wake up so early for school. A disadvantage is that I feel less connected from my friends and my teacher. I think I would consider online courses depending on what class its for.

I'm not thrilled about having online learning now because it's already been more of hassle getting assignments done . Although I personally don't like online learning, I do have to realize that it does have it's benefits such as making it easier for me to comment on people's responses since I'm more of a shy person and don't like saying things out loud, and with online learning there are no disruptive students that might distract me. There are however, more disadvantages such as not being able to get a response about a question I might have as quickly as I would in the classroom, having to deal with technical difficulties, and simply just having less motivation to do work since there's really no one there to make sure I stay on track. I would understand if had to take online college classes due to something like what's going on now happening, and we have to practice social distancing, but if that's not the case, then no I would not consider taking online college classes because frankly, this week has been pretty frustrating due to all the technical difficulties and communication problems I've been having, and I would not want to have a repeat of this in college.

When I found out about the amazing news of school being cancelled ,and us taking online courses I was so excited to go through this new adventure. Now that I have actually done online school for a week my opinion has changed. I find it very overwhelming that our entire routines were altered. Some advantages of this online school is that I get to do my assignments at my own pace causing less stress for me. Disadvantages are that it’s not as easy to ask for teachers input now that I have to email them for each question I have over the assignment. I would actually consider taking online courses in college because I like the fact that I can work from wherever I want and at the time I want unless I have a deadline. This new challenge COVID-19 has brought upon us might me quite challenging, but as a community we will get through this just fine. Be safe and wash your hands.

Most of my thoughts on just sole the idea alone of online learning, if I were to say or explain most of those thoughts here in this response would most likely get me into major trouble. This being a major issue in my being able to try and fully explain or express how I feel regarding our current situation, I shall endeavor to refrain myself. So, in the shortest and easiest form of an explanation, I think it is crap.

The entire system is flawed, I do honestly hope that I don't have to explain my reasoning why because it is just plain obvious. This reason alone grants the students a superior advantage. Unfortunately for as big as an advantage, I may have made it seem, in my opinion, I believe the disadvantages are to be a greater amount then there are advantages.

If I could not have made it any more apparent than what I already have, then allow me to bluntly tell you that I would not even let the idea of online college cross my mind after the amount of effort I am and have been putting in to be where I am now academically. So no, I would not contemplate taking online college.

I could make an entire 3-page essay, perhaps even more, on this subject. I have yet to actually talk about the situation itself for I have only just talked about how I feel. I haven't even begun to talk about how this can affect the students. Furthermore, we are in isolation unable to see and socialize with our friends this can cause loneliness and depression. As well as not being able to see our teachers and learn first-hand like most students are used and have been accustomed to, this new sudden change can cause stress. That alone is another 3-page essay I could write about, and that's only one of many things because I've yet to even scratch the surface.

I agree with everything said here because the education is naturally flawed because of the type of people who run it and there is no doubt about that. There are far more disadvantages than advantages to online learning.

I believe that online learning already impacts our normal school life. This is because everyday, we go to school and use computers to complete daily assignments, quizzes, and even major tests. It was only a matter of time before the internet would begin to take over education as a whole. But the fact is, online learning has been happening for many years now. I believe that online learning can be good for many students of all ages. It allows us to do our school work and pursue an education out of the comfort of our own home, which is good for those with anxiety or cant afford to travel the distance to school or pay for it. Which is another thing. There are multiple learning services that provide free education. In times of mass quarantine, the internet provides an escape for us to continue to pursue our education. As for disadvantages, it can lessen human interaction which is something we as a community should not get used to because of its negative effects on us. Online education can also cause confusion, given that teachers won't be there to answer you directly in the moment you need it. The workload is also much bigger. In all, for every positive effect of online education, there is a negative one.

It’s pretty tough for me to do online classes because I’m always so busy doing work at home. But i will try my best and do the work. I like to try new things but online classes isn’t one of them. I get distracted easily at home, I push school work aside, but at school since I’m in class i have nothing else to do I work. I just want to go back to school and do the work normally. No, i would not consider taking online college courses.

I feel that online learning is way harder. I think it's harder because it's difficult to understand what teachers are trying to say and it's hard to really learn the lesson. An advantage is that we have more time on the assignments because I can work on it on my free time. Also we get to spend more time at home with our family. Some disadvantages are that it is harder to concentrate because I get really distracted so it's hard for me to complete the assignments on time. Another is that you don't get to spend time with your friends and work on group projects together and see examples of work.
