My uneducated thing I didn’t know about higher education is that the books are pretty expensive and colleges have many different traditions. Depending on the class, you might have to buy from one book to maybe 2-3 books. Some classes require you to buy the book if the teacher wrote it. I also didn’t know that colleges have many different traditions. For example, I didn’t know that Ut Austin has the Big Bertha and Hook Em’ Horns as their traditions. Because I learned these things, I have a new perspective on college. I am assuming they are very welcoming and their traditions are to get people together. I also have a new perspective on the price of college.

I think it was very interesting about the traditions for UT Austin, what is “Big Bertha”? I also agree on your perspective of college, i as well that the traditions are to gather people and create friendships between people.

The traditions were really exciting and interesting to learn about and has given me more reasons to want to attend the universities that I researched. I also learned that if I go to UT Austin I would pay less because of in-state tuition.

My uneducated assumption about higher education was that private schools require a higher SAT/ACT score, this is bluntly way to say it but they do not want to waste their time on just whoever. They want more elite students and want to spend their time on people who are qualified to. What surprised me the most about higher education was how many traditions they have. Many have songs, or days where they go to the river etc. A new perspective that I learned was that although higher education/college can be stressful but it can be fun. There are many clubs in colleges that you can join, and also dorms/alumni where you meet many people and create strong bonds with. If I decide to go with the nursing path, then I will try and get my associates then go to Chamberlain University where it is a three-year program and how fast I can receive the masters in nursing whereas in other schools it takes 5-7 years to receive the license/degree to do so.

Now I get to wonder . . . if you have to lie in the bed to partake in the tradition, does that mean I should not believe what you say . . .?

I used to think that the higher education or college was extremely hard to attend to, very challenging, and expensive. I have researched facts and information about colleges and universities. Researching information and facts about colleges and universities allows me to have a change in mind about them. After learning about colleges and universities and how simple the higher education can actually be, I’m surprised that college is actually simple, and that to make it simple, I have to take it step by step. When taking step by step, I can organize a calendar with reminders and notes to help me understand what is due and when to start and finish them.

Researching potential universities, I discovered new and different information about what higher education requires and what it has in store for me. I honestly assumed that all it took to get into college or university was to have good grades, but now I realize that colleges take into account so much more than general education. They also consider, and highly regard, volunteer work around your community which shows how involved and outgoing you are. I was very surprised to see that many of the prestigious colleges offer much help financially to compensate for their high tuition, encouraging students to work hard towards gaining grants and scholarships. This revelation appeased my worries about the cost of colleges which had previously limited my choices and opportunities. Now, I am encouraged to branch out and discover universities that pertain to my abilities no matter what it may cost; I just have to remember to work hard, play hard, and study hard so that my higher educational dreams can be guaranteed. I plan to attain the IB Diploma so that I can take rigorous courses that can prepare me for a prestigious education. Hopefully taking IB will benefit me intellectually, providing gateways to help achieve my career path of an author. University was, at first, a scary or pressuring thought that weighed my dreams down, but after researching it I have become inspired to work as hard as I can to be granted the key to achieve my dreams.

I agree with the statement of working hard and studying hard for higher educational dreams, but in my opinion I do not agree with the play hard part. Playing hard means being off task. That is not something I would ever do, but you can do you.

My assumption about higher education is that it doesn’t cost a lot to to be accepted. Learning about the different types of colleges such as, private and public, I’ve come to learn that it costs a lot more if you are from out-of-state then from in-state. Books also have a large cost based on what classes you are taking. It is important to have responsibility and commitment to be able to succeed and get to where you want to be.

I strongly agree with you. I want to go to Arizona State University but it would cost me more to go, whereas if I stayed at UTRGV not only will I have to pay less because I live in-state, I would also get free tuition. Books do cost a lot. They can range from 150-300. It really depends on the class and teacher seeing as some teachers do require you to buy the book if they wrote it. College does take a lot of responsibility and commitment. If you have the commitment to do what you really want to, then you will excel in your field of choice.

After researching for my project, my new perspective on university is that even though some universities are smaller than others, there is still a great sense of culture and family all along the campuses. This is really encouraging when speaking about bigger campuses, in which you might think have a weaker community. For example, at the University of Texas at Austin (A large campus with over fifty thousand students), there are still plenty of cultural activities to build a stronger and united community that supports each other and, of course, the Longhorns. When choosing the universities that I want to go to, I always look for schools that I know will be exciting to go to because of the people, campus, and activities. Learning that a large number of universities have this environment is very exciting and will hopefully lead me to make the right choice.

Doing this research project has left me with new knowledge that was unknown to me. Like being surprised with how high the requirements are to get into certain universities. Finding the percentage of people that actually got accepted into those types of colleges really made me feel like I need to do better in high school. This opened my eyes in a way I have never seen before, because I had thought that most university requirements would be more forgiving in some way.

Before I did my research on the colleges my uneducated assumption was that I didn’t really think it was necessary and all I thought was that it was a waste of time but then after my research project on the 5 colleges I learned why it is important and that I do need it. A lot of people don’t see the importance of college like how I used to view it but it allows you to go beyond and learn about your future profession. College isn’t a waste of time it makes your future profession a little closer. My assumption has changed towards college and I really see how important and helpful college can be

When discussing higher education, I believed many things that I now know that are wrong. One of these things is that many colleges have many different traditions and the students are allowed to participate. I found that many scholarships are available for students that are not as academically advanced as others. I found that many colleges are available to poor people like me. I plan to be a journalist in UTRGV. I believe that having a budget in college can really come in beneficial because it saves time and causes less stress on you.

Researching potential universities that I had interest in, I discovered new and different information about what higher education requires for students and shows what it has in store for them. What surprised me the most about higher education was that it varies for different universities and they all require certain criteria. I plan to go to a university with connections that have interests in my favor and to gain a college education that can lead me to a great future. I am interested in having a career path that deals with health science and business but I am not sure what I would wanna be. Career paths all have different outcomes from the way you are educated. I learned that the ideas that were shared with me about other colleges opened up my perspective on my goals for the future. It made me realize how lots of things have lots of potential and shouldn’t be put down.

I've learned various amounts of facts about the colleges that I've researched like the difference between public and private schools. For example private school tuitions tend to be very expensive, on the other hand a public school tuition has a much lower price. I was also amazed by all the traditions these schools have and do. I was also surprised that private schools ask for very high SAT and ACT scores. I find encouraging about these schools that all these students that go there are very dedicated and postponed to always keep studying. I plan to study marketing and graphic design to get into the minor of becoming a creative director. The university I choose was UH Houston University. To be more effective, I plan to take the IB program and the dual enrollment, so it can be easier when it comes to college, to save time and more education.

I was as well moderately suprised on the SAT and ACT scores because being a private school, they won’t just allow anyone to attend. Interesting career of choice, and effective way to advance quickly in your education.

I have learned so much from my past research project. For one, I have learned that private universities or colleges are more expensive. They also offer better scholarships. Books can also be extremely expensive, varying from five hundred to one thousand dollars. I also learned many diverse, unique traditions about each university. There can be fun activities students enjoy participating in. It is best to have a plan before entering college. My specific plan is to get scholarships. Scholarships can be extremely helpful to students. It can help with financial needs, even. There is a wide variety of scholarships, including essays, fun art activities, and many more choices. I enjoy writing stories or just English in general, therefore I am going to most likely write an essay about a topic that I am fairly interested in. My plan is to earn a degree in either psychology or a bachelors, become an Occupational Therapist, and complete my basics in UTRGV. The most effective way to prepare for college is creating a plan, being organized, and have dedication along the journey.

My uneducated assumption about higher education is that it is very difficult and you have to stay very focused on your career at school and be persistent with your studiesWhat surprised me the most about the higher education research was how expensive it is to go to a school outside of your home state because of how expensive the taxes are to go to an out of state college or university. The new perspective that I have gained from this research was that it is a lot easier to go to a college that is in state so that you can save money on taxes and since we live in Texas there are a large amount of good colleges and universities. I have some interests in what career I would like to pursue but I am not 100% sure about exactly what i want to be my career.

Before I did my college research project I thought colleges were really easy and boring to go. On of the things that surprise this me about this colleges is of how much you need to try and be smart get good grades and a stable place to stay because is really expensive.i have learned a lot about education program and act and all this things imporant.my career would be criminology and to attend to Sam Houston college the easy way for me to get to college would be preparing since right now to be ready when time gets here

I believed an uneducated assumption is when a college is thinking to be getting the different kinds of people. It was surprising that how high of a GPA and an ACT you need to have . I have been shocked because you need a lot of stuff to get into colleges because you need to meet the requirement for them to accept you. For you to go to college you need to pass your TSI and all of the test. People have to be very smart for you to be going to college because people have to be smart and not everyone would go to college. Lots of people have trouble going to college because they might be thinking its too hard to be. My career path is to get into law enforcement because that’s what I like to do.

My uneducated assumption was that you just needed a high GPA or a high SAT score and that you did not need both to apply. Probably, the most surprising thing was the fact of how high your SAT score had to be. For example New York University lowest SAT score was a 1490, my PSAT scores are not even that high. I now have an encouraged perspective to study harder and take as many possibilities to improve me grades and score. I do not have a set college or career path complete because I am interested in many different things that are all very different, such as acting, teaching, or being a therapist. The most effective way for me to probably prepare is for me to join the IB program and attend UTRGV for dual credit.
