KT now knows who the butterfly killer is but decides to shield MY from the fatal secret. The family photo is taken and the oath of philia (a Greek word for familial love and loyalty) is signed and sealed--with a kiss!
Before long, the head nurse reveals herself as the butterfly, and MY cannot bear her secondary guilt as the daughter of a killer and is unable to face ST and KT. Even though MY is another victim of parental abuse, the idea of filial piety threatens the triad's philia. A Korean viewer, I feel very unnerved with the karmic burden of familial legacy and I know if KT and MY end up staying together as a couple despite this damning knowledge, many Koreans--with the Confucian legacy of filial piety latent in their psyche--would not be able to accept the message of the healing power of love. The head nurse may be Doh, Hee-Jae but is not MY's birth mother, I hope against hope.
Emotionally speaking, I am harrowed and ragged by the butterfly, so I defer processing these episodes until the inner spiral of this mystery unfolds in Episode 15.
